Here are a few things you should be doing to keep your gutters in tip-top shape:

• Gutters should be cleaned twice a year, in the spring and in the fall after most of the leaves have fallen. 
• Inspect the gutters for holes, rust, gaps, and pulling away from the building 
• Inspect the hangers and reattach any that have pulled loose. 
• Clean out the downspouts from the bottom, otherwise you may end up packing it in more tightly. 
• Run water into your gutters to spot any backups you may have missed.
