Save Your Rainwater and Save Your Money!

When you think of a rain barrel - if you do - you’ll probably think of a farm or a ranch or maybe something that looks as if it might be a rain barrel at a friend’s house.  Maybe at the front door with a nice plant growing out of the top.  What you probably don’t know is that recorded history shows that rain barrels, in the form of plain clay containers, goes back over 2,000 years.  Since the drought in California has gotten so much attention, and we are still facing a water crisis, this is a good time for you to think about putting some rain barrels at your own home.  They’re more beneficial than you can imagine.  Not only do they help you to save and conserve water as it comes from the sky, but you can get a rebate for installing them!  With a limit of four per house, each barrel will bring in a rebate of $75.  Holy cow!

Every one inch of rain that falls on a roof of 1,000 square feet will cause 600 gallons of water to fall from that roof.  You’ll be able to water your lawn and grow your plants and flowers and vegetables in water that is not chemically treated.  Everything will thrive.  Think of yourself as going back to nature as you enjoy your cost-saving and environmentally-friendly rain barrels.  As an added plus, they’re attractive and we’ll help you choose the ones that most enhance your home.  Please Take A Look  to see some of our great selections.

Additionally, Randy's Rain Gutters makes repairing, buying and installing and cleaning your gutters a one-stop-shop.  We’d be pleased to partner with you in helping to maintain the safety and beauty of your home.  Your home may be the most valuable property asset that you have.  To set up a free estimate to discuss all of your needs and concerns, just click here.  Free Estimate.

Randy's Rain Gutters has the knowledge on Rain Barrels in SoCal!

What about rain barrels?

With many areas facing long term drought, a rain barrel may be just the thing for you. Unless you are old enough to remember rain barrels, you may think that they are the latest and greatest craze. In truth, rain barrels are nothing new. They were commonly used for hundreds of years in one form or another well into the 20th century and though not as common now, they have been making a comeback.

What is a rain barrel?

A rain barrel is simply a container that your rain gutters flow into, collecting the water from your roof's runoff. Rain barrels have allowed people to have water "on demand" during any dry seasons and/or a lack of indoor plumbing. In the old days it was wooden barrels or 55-gallon drums, nowadays they have containers specifically made for them.

Should I use a rain barrel?

Rain Barrels save on your water bill, conserve water and will hold up to 55 gallons each. As watering your lawn and garden can be up to 40% of your water use*, they can add up to quite a bit of savings. Plus you can use the water to wash your car and top off your swimming pool.

A rain barrel can save homeowners around 1300 gallons of water during peak summer months*. It also diverts water from storm drains and lessens the impact of runoff to streams. You can use them for watering your lawn and garden and for washing your car.

Where do I get rain barrels?

Randy’s Rain Gutters tries to save you money and with diligent research has found a discount program active in our area! Be Water Wise will reimburse you up to $75 per rain barrel with a limit of four per house. Randy will be happy to provide further information upon request. See SO-Cal Water Smart.
